VALENTINE

Above All, Love Yourself❤
What Does This Look Like
I Hear You Ask
Am I Really Up To The Task
How To Start, How To Connect Or Reconnect
Find The Energy Recharge The Batteries
One Step At A Time
Time For You,Your Needs To Be Met
A Place, A Space Created
To Gather Your Thoughts,Feelings, Emotions
Your Hope’s, Your Dreams Expressed
To Connect With Your Life’s Spark
To Fill Your Well With All That Helps To Keep You
In Your Body, Mind & Soul
A Sense of Belonging
When You Feel At Times
Lost At Home
To Balance The Highs And Lows
The Ups And Downs
Learn To Love Yourself When No One Else is Around.

Countdown

We Have Two Weeks To Get This Right
So We Have Been Told
As Lockdown Continues
In Our Land Of Green,White And Gold
As We Venture Out 5 kilometres Now Not Two
May We Stay Strong, Assured Knowing What We Must Do
The Virus Is Lessened
Its Losing Its Grip
The Numbers Each Night
Are Telling Us So
It’s Getting Weaker
And Weaker
The Time is Coming
It Will Have Nowhere To Hide
Nowhere To Go
This Is Our Greatest Wish
Our Deepest Prayer
As We Stay Apart
Together
We Will Get From Here To There
There is Where Our Loved Ones Are
Not Behind Glass Or From Afar
But In Our Arms We
Long To Take
For Now In Our Hearts We Will Keep Them Safe
With The Promise To Never Take For Granted
The Love We Have To Share
For Now We Show It
By Staying At Home
Staying Far Apart
Playing Our Part
Is Getting This Right
Showing That We Are All Pulling Together
In This Fight Please Be Mindful
Of Our Cocooners
Who Have Stayed The Pace Some Weeks And Months
At Home
Helping To Flatten The Curve,
Saving Lives While Protecting Others
They Were Prepared Not To Roam
So When You See Them Out For A Walk
Or Taking A Breath Of Fresh Air
Pay Them Some Heed
Show That You Care
By Giving Them Plenty Of Space
To Walk Or Have A Stroll
In their Own Time
At Their Own Pace
Is An Act Of Grace

“Le Cheile”

Bank Holiday Weekend We Find Ourselves In
Our Garda Are Out In Force
Checking To See That We Are Playing Our Part
Staying The Course
Checkpoints Set Up
“Fanagh” In Place
Four E’s, Explain, Engage, Encourage, Enforce, Applies
They Are Here To Help Stop The Spread Of This Deadly Disease
To Help Save Another Who Could Die, They Are Saving Lives
Theses Rules Do Not Apply To Those Who Live North
Even Though Some Border Counties Are Hot Spots Where This Thrives And Is Staying Alive
License Plates Are Being Checked Outside Closed Parks
Reminders Of The Distance, Still Two Metres We Can Roam
A Hefty Fine, Next Time Could Be Waiting For You When You Get Home
To Ease The Burden
Those Who Care
We Stay Home Knowing That Our Actions,Our Sacrifices Are Saving Lives
So Please No Parties After Dark
No Large Picnics In The Parks With Others By Your Side
Stay Close To Home
We Can Do It, Why Cant You
It’s Our Best Chance To See This Through
We Are All In This Together
“Le Cheile” Will Get Us Through.

The Change

The May Bank Holiday Has Arrived, We Have Been Waiting With Baited Breath To Hear
When Will Our World Start Reopening
Where Can We Go?
How Far?
Back To Work Or School?
How Is This Going To Be Done?
Five Phases, Softly, Softly The Approach, Bit By Bit It Opens
How Many Shops And Restaurants Will Have To Take A Hit
Not Like Before,You Can Be Sure
Little By Little For All Our Sakes
Our World Will Come Back To Life Outside
A New Way Of Living, Make No Mistake
To Take Care Of Ourselves And Each Other
Will Be Our Greatest Task
Till A Cure For This Deadly Virus Is Sourced At Last
We Will Have To Stay The Course
Stay The Pace
Do What’s Being Asked Of Us
For All Our Sakes
We Are Weakened The Virus
We Are Winning The Race

Care For The Carers

In A Nursing Home
Close To My Heart
Near My Home
Where The Deer Are Free To Roam
Twenty One Residents Died
The Stags Outside Stood Their Ground
As They Gathered Round,
As Each Soul Left
Its Earthly Home And Departed
The Toll Is Much To Bear
For Those Who Cared For And About Them
Their Loved Ones Left to Mourn Their Loss
Lessons To Be Learned
About The Cost Of These Lives That Have Been Lost
Who Cares For The Carers
Who Are Putting Their Lives On The Line
Caring For Our Vulnerable, Aged, Frail, On The Decline Loved Ones
They Did Their Best
They Stood The Test
The Ultimate Price Was Paid
As Twenty One More Were Laid To Rest
It Wasn’t Right
It Wasn’t Enough
It Just Wasn’t Good Enough
They Got Left Behind
They Were Counted Out , Not In
In The Bigger Scheme Of Things
They Have Been Promised, More Testing,Health Care Professionals,More Staff
Necessary P.PE.
I Wonder…………

Community Spirit

Those Working On The Front Lines
With Hearts Of Gold
Their Stories Too Hard To Be Told
So Sending Some Basic Needs
To Make Them Feel Whole, Human Again
Is Being Organized
By Groups, Communities And Friends
It’s A Way To Thank Them For Their Service, Courage And Strength
Hot Meals By The Hundreds Are Being Sent
They Were Never Trained For This
The Numbers, The Decisions They Have To Make
How To Save A Loved One
Save Another Family From Unbearably Heartache
Hospital Doctors Are Now Going Out To Visit Our Aged
As Appointments Are Not Being Kept While Cocooning At Home
People Are Waiting With Serious Ills
Some Days Before Presenting At A&Es
With Heart Attacks And Strokes
Some Leaving It Late
For The Best Outcome To Be
Because They Are Afraid, And Rightly So To Walk Through Those Hospital Doors
Thinking That Their Loved Ones
Will See Them No More
So Know That Your Efforts
Are Never In Vain
We Are Staying The Pace
Winning The Race

United We Stand

Debenhams Staff Are On The Picket Line
Their Duty Of Care
Dismissed At
This Time
By Their Employers Abroad
In One Swift Act Have Pulled The Plug
Ending Their Livelihood
We Stand With Them In Solidarity
Keelings Are Flying People From Afar
“Skilled Horticulture Staff”To Pick Strawberries
Their Goods Are Being Boycotted
It Was A Step To Far
Our Dole Lines Are
Virtually Round The Block
So Many People Are Still Reeling From The Shock
For Employment That’s Lost And May Never Come Back
We Look To Our Government
To Take Up The Slack
To Answer Our Call
As Never Before
As We Wait With Questions And For Answers
Behind Our Front Door.

In This Together

It Took A Virus To Make Us Come Home
Back To Ourselves
Back To Our Homes
Inside We Stay Passing Each Day
The Best Way We Can
Every Child, Woman And Man
Discovering And Recovering Our Talents And Skills
Playing Games, Making Crafts, Dancing, Singing, Having A Laugh
With Our Loved Ones And Friends Both Near And Far
Is Doing Our Bit
Playing Our Part
In These Troubled Times
For Lives Are At Stake
Make No Mistake
We Don’t See The Fuss, The Rush
That Our Frontline Medics
Are Making To Save Each One Of Us
Trying To Find The Gain Out Of The Pain They Are In
They Keep Showing Up
They Keep Working
Their Shoulders To The Wheel
They Have A True Calling
They Are Special One And All
All We Can Promise Them Is That We Will Be Here For Them In Their Hour Of Need
Helping To Keep Them Strong In Body, Mind, And Soul
As We All Answer Ireland’s Call
What’s Asked Of Us
May Seem So Small
Doing Your Bit
While Safe At Home
Is Reassurance To Them
That They Are Not
Doing This Alone

Tune In

Put Down The Phone
Pick Up A Book
Open The Cover, Have A Look
Explore And Discover Whats Inside
You Never Know What The Cover Hides
Put Down The Phone
Take Paper And Pen
Learn To Connect Or Reconnect With Family Or Friends
Maybe Its Time To Make Amends And Start Again
We Have Learned That Life Is Short
Forever Changing
That Nothing Stays The Same
Reach Out A Hand
A Sign Of Peace In Troubled Times
The Heart Knows Best
It Will Guide You Through The Rest
Put Down The Phone
Be Present To All In Your Life
Learn To Work Through Any Worry, Pain Or Strife
Talk, Communicate With Ones You Hold Dear
Share With Them Your Hopes, Your Dreams, Your Fears
Let Go Of The Phone
While Staying Home
Learn To Enjoy The New Pace
There’s No Hurry, There’s No Race

Shopping

“We Are Not Going To Mention It Because We Are All Going Through It”

The Spar Add States
Some Have To Wait With Baited Breath
To Get Out Of Their Gate
Shopping Was For Food And Enjoyment
Now It Is A Necessary Task, A Chore Tinged With Fear For Some
Staying Back Two Metres From Everyone
Eyes Now From A Mask
Looking Forward, Not Around
Watching And Observing
The Yellow Spaces Laid Out On The Ground
The Queues Some Days
Goes Round And Round
Once In, Rushing From Aisle To Aisle
No Pleasantries Passed
No Smiles
Getting Essential Needs
Not Stopping To Look At The Fancy Goods
Just Wanting To Get Home
Tapping The Bill
Sometimes Its A Struggle
It Feels Uphill
But Do It We Must
To Break This Wretched Curse
By staying Home
Not Venturing
No Going Out To Roam
The Payoff In The
End
We Save Another’s Family Or Friend.
